Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to believe in Reiki?
No particular belief is required. Come with whatever perspective you already have and simply stay curious about what you notice. There is nothing you are expected to feel, see, or experience.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever allows you to feel comfortable and relaxed. Soft, loose or flexible clothing is usually easiest. A blanket is available if you would like one.
Will there be physical touch?
Reiki may be offered with my hands gently placed on the body or held just above it. You decide what feels comfortable. Your preferences are discussed before we begin and can change at any time during the session.
What if I don’t feel anything?
That is completely okay. Some people notice warmth, tingling, heaviness, lightness, emotion, imagery or deep relaxation. Others notice very little in the moment. There is no particular experience you are supposed to have.
Can I speak during a session?
Absolutely. Sessions are often quiet, but you are always welcome to speak, ask a question, adjust your position or tell me what you need. Silence is welcome too.
Will scents, smoke or other sensory elements be used?
Some sessions may include optional sensory elements such as scent, sound, smoke-clearing or other tools that support the experience. These are never required and can always be skipped. Your comfort and preferences come first.
What might I experience during Reiki?
Every session is different. You might notice physical sensations, relaxation, emotions, imagery, memories, thoughts or simply quiet. Sometimes what stands out is very subtle. The intention is not to create an experience, but to make space to notice what is already present.
Do I need to choose one of the Ways to Explore before my session?
No. Reiki and quiet presence can be the entire session. Other experiences can be explored only if they feel supportive in the moment. You do not need to decide before you arrive.
How should I prepare for my session?
There is very little you need to do. Arrive comfortable, hydrated and with enough time that you do not feel rushed. The pre-session check-in will give you a moment to notice how you are arriving and what you would like to make space for.
What happens after the session?
You will have a few quiet minutes to settle and notice what remains with you. The Journal offers optional reflection prompts if you would like to record what you experienced.
Can I return for another session?
Yes. Each session can stand on its own, or your reflections can become a record of what you notice over time. There is no required schedule or number of sessions.
